A Walk Down Rahman Lane by Lordlabak

You are right. It’s tough to write about that one special song A R Rahman made but I want to write about a song that I enjoy in a different way compared to so many of his other songs.

I love learning lyrics of the songs I like so I can sing along. This song, try as I might, I could not get the words right. Yet I take pleasure in singing along with made up lyrics. Pal Pal hain Bhari from Swades is that song.
The movie has so many flamboyant songs yet this simple song pictured on Ramayana play tugs at my heart. It starts off in Jonpuri and moves to Kamas. The classical base of this song makes this a “soft and soulful” song for me. Musical theatre songs generally have a high quality and here is a movie song made for musical theatre scene in it. The simplicity of the people, the village in question are best captured in the music. And that is what makes this song super special for me.
