Vande mataram : Timeless India

To commemorate 60 years of India's Independence, starting this week, I will be posting a 'Vande mataram' music video and a 'Vande mataram' short film every week till August 15th.
This video titled 'Vande mataram:Timeless India' has been directed by Bharatbala of Bharatbala Productions and edited by his wife Kanika Myer. Filmed extensively in North eastern India in October and November 1997, this video, apart from the North east tribals, features a very expressive girl from the Ali yavar Institute in Mumbai.

Lyrics : Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay
Music : Rabindranath Tagore
Singers : Sujatha, Kalyani Menon & Chorus
Music recreated by : A R Rahman

@ Ambi,

methinks Chaterjee is a short form of chattopadhyay as much as Ganguly is a short form of Gangopadhyay, courtesy Vellaikarans!

Anyways any national anthem video moves me and the USP of this - the miming of the anthem for deaf people makes it really something to be appreciated!

Coool! :)

Good initiative Blogeswari. BTW, was this video made during the time when the other Vande Mataram album vidoes were made? I have never seen this one, though I have heard the audio of it. Just goes to prove how the videos featuring Rahman got more popular than the ones like these which should have gotten all the attention.

அருமையாக இருந்தது. உங்கள் அனுமதியின்றி இதை சுட்டு என் ப்ளாகில் போட்டுவிட்டேன். மன்னிக்கவும்.

Very nice. Out of sync a little bit though (is it deliberate?).
